During November 2003, Wayne Oliver, Jr. created the concept of Choice Aquariums, and over the next several months, the design of our first retail location was developed with input from Carl Krajinak, Dave Konkus, Berne Kairunas, and Wayne Oliver, III.

On May 11, 2004, Wayne Oliver, Jr. established the legal entity, Choice Aquariums, LLC.

Construction of our first Choice Aquariums retail location was started June 1, 2004, in Farmington Hills, Michigan. After many months of construction, our build-out was complete when Choice Aquariums opened our doors for business January 2, 2005. Our initial store is 3,400 square feet with half the space dedicated to dry goods, and the balance of the location housing over 8,000 gallons of livestock.

Choice Aquarium Services was established on November 1, 2005, and the addition of Scott Ratliff as our first Service Technician positioned the company to provide maintenance service along with custom or stock aquarium system design & installation for clients who desire professional assistance. Since its inception, Choice Aquarium Services has grown to three service vehicles and four associates.

Choice Aquariums acquired Great Lakes Discus on December 1, 2006. Great Lakes Discus, and its founder Cary Strong, brought Choice our initial entry into E-retail with offering domestically bred and direct import discus specimens to a modest Internet market.

The development of ChoiceAquariums.com was initiated on September 17, 2007. We brought our E-retail site to market on March 27, 2008, where our company ties together the offerings of Great Lakes Discus, and our marine specimens.
