8,000 Gallons of Livestock
High Quality, Healthy Specimens
Choice Aquariums' Farmington Hills location is 3,400 square feet with over 8,000 gallons livestock, and a broad selection of supplies & equipment. Our store is based on a collection of nine centralized but separate livestock systems. Centralized, as applied in our operation, refers to source water.
Reverse Osmosis Filtration & Storage
The entire store is plumbed from a central water source where various filtration, heating and cooling methods are employed to create as pure as starting point as we reasonably can. Choice water is stored and handled specifically to avoid contamination and remain fresh. The basis for many of Choice Aquariums' systems is reverse osmosis filtered water employing a SpectraPure PSP1000 System. The RO water is stored in a 300-gallon reserve barrel under constant circulation to maintain freshness. As required, water is transferred to a second 300-gallon barrel for saltwater preparation where we employ Tropic Marin salt.
Marine & Tropical Fish, Invertebrates, and Plants
The nine systems draw base water that is then treated to the specific requirements of the systems which are, LPS Coral, SPS Coral, Invertebrate, Discus, Saltwater Fish, Freshwater Fish & Plant, Goldfish, Live Rock, and our Marine Display. All of these livestock systems are plumbed-in with automated water change and tied into timed electrical circuits for lighting.
Healthy, High Quality Specimens Managed with Excellent Filtration
The primary filtration for both Saltwater Fish and Freshwater Fish & Plant systems are Casco Group, Inc. Caribbean Systems. The marine system employs an RK2 Protein Skimmer, and both systems utilize Aqua-Ultraviolet UV sterilizers, in fact, every system in the store is supported with Aqua-Ultraviolet products for UV sterilization. The systems also contain fluidized sand beds, trickle towers, both pad & sponge filters, as well as the capacity to engage carbon filters when necessary.
